For about eight years, until 2021, Tim contributed an article for most monthly editions of Build It magazine, on topics stipulated by the magazine. The subjects of these articles ranged from the nuances of a self-build mortgage to an overview of off-mains domestic drainage or the insulation options for a new timber framed house. Many of these articles can be found and downloaded from the Articles page on this website.
In addition, Tim has also been commissioned by industry to write a number of in depth studies on particular points of interest. One such example was the use of light weight timber cladding on timber framed building structures. The exercise was desktop only and did not include any new primary research but it nonetheless brought otherwise quite obscure information to the fore, enabling a new perspective to be considered concerning this combination of products.
Other studies have been completed on the use and merits of contemporary building systems for individual clients who have sought an independent view of such systems' respective technical advantages and possible restrictions before placing sizeable orders. Quite understandably this kind of research and advice must remain confidential to the commissioning client and reports of this nature are not published or available from our website.
